A common challenge: more accurate data, faster processes
Before implementation, product and package measurements were done manually, using tape measures and scales. In some cases, dimensions were estimated or taken from information provided by manufacturers or product managers.
This way of working required additional time for each product and could generate differences between the actual dimensions and those recorded in the computer systems.
The objective of the project was not only to replace a manual process with an automated one, but to obtain the most accurate dimensional and weight data possible, which could be subsequently used throughout the entire logistics flow – from storage and transportation to operational planning.
Choosing the right solution for each type of product
Following the analysis of warehouse flows, the Eutron team recommended implementing a complementary solution, consisting of two pieces of equipment.
- For regular and irregular products up to 90 × 60 × 60 cm and 25 kg, the automatic measurement system was implemented Cubiscan 325.
- For bulky products – such as garden tools, large equipment or pallets – the solution was chosen CubeTape C200S.
The two solutions were not chosen by chance. They respond to different, but complementary needs, and together they allow covering the entire range of products processed in the warehouse, regardless of size or shape. Automation is not complete without integrating the equipment into processes
An essential element of the project was the integration of the equipment with the IT systems already used by Würth Bulgaria.
Through the Qbit DB platform , which connects the measuring equipment and the warehouse management system (WMS), data is automatically retrieved and transferred, without the need for manual entry.
This eliminates manual information entry, reduces the risk of error, and creates a fast and centralized data flow.
